On 29th November 2013, welcomed by the mayor, Alain Juppé, members of AGICA celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the organisation in the splendid rooms of the Palais Rohan, the town-hall. During a cocktail reception for tourism professionals hosted by AGICA, its president, Catherine Bord reminded those present that the Association of Guides, Interpreters and Conferenciers of Aquitaine are an integral part of tourism in the region and praised the courage of AGICA’s founders. Its first president, Marie Francois Coppens, also made a speech after which Alain Juppé emphasised the importance of the growth of tourism in Bordeaux and the region.

The event was well reported in the press and media.

The following day, Saturday 30th November, to raise the awareness of the public to the guiding profession, members of AGICA offered free guided tours of Bordeaux Hotel de Ville, the royal entrance of St André cathedral and the cathedral quarter.
